Can can!
I am back! Had a few health worries and a busy time at work, but enough of that!
I had the excitement of going to the amazing 'knitting and stitching show' at Alexandra Palace last week. It was AWESOME!!! So many beautiful handmade things, heaps of inspiration and way too much i wanted to buy!
One thing that i could not resist buying was this amazing new can can wool from rico:
Once i had seen it being used, i had to have some. I bought some in green from the fair and then ordered some more when i got home from the lovely woolabaloo.
As you can hopefully see, the wool is like netting or a spiders web more than normal wool, so you have to knit in a slightly different way. The great thing is, it hides mistakes well, which is good for me!
The wool is really meant for making scarfs. It knits up really quickly, but i thought that wrist cuffs would work really well too:
I have been busy making more cuffs and scarfs as it is highly addictice!
As well as this little fella, the pattern for which i found over at sippity stitch.
The fabric is mostly from fabric rehab which is my absolute favourite online shop to buy fabric from.
Hope you are all having fab weeks,
xx

I have been busy over the last few days, cutting 100's of squares and triangles to make my first quilt. EEEK! I want it to be big enough to cover our bed, i am happy enough with sewing the patches together but what i am worried about is inserting the wadding and then sewing it up and 'doing' the actual quilting part. Any suggestions would be really welcome. I am not sure how i will get something so big through my sewing machine...
Anyway, i am loving it, it's a really therapeutic thing to do in the evenings whilst developing my addiction to Madmen!
Flower Power
In other news, this amazing flower has appeared from nowhere in my garden and i have no idea what it is - any ideas?
Baby Book
A year ago on October 1st, one of my closest friends had her first baby Georgina. And i was lucky enough to be her birth partner so was present at the amazing home birth. Wow.
So, i want to make something special for her 1st birthday. I was thinking of making a soft book for her, with things to do, feel, look at, learn from etc. I have had a quick google search and have a few ideas but if anyone has any i would be really grateful. Also where can i get some mirrored material so she can see her cute little face on one of the pages??!
Thanks guys!
Hope you are all having a great week.

Skirting the issue....

I decided it was a bit plain, so i made a flower rosette to accompany it. This was really easy although it took longer to make than the skirt did!I cut up some long lengths of co-ordinating fabric, and gathered it up, then sewed it to the skirt in a circle-ish shape. Then got some pink ribbon and wound it around into a rose shape, tacking it as i went. I am not sure it looks right though.....
At last!

These little guys are called 'misfits', they are all a bit odd but they each have their own story to tell....

We sold a few bit (even the bunting!) and i got the worst ever sunburn. Ouch. Still, it is always a buzz to see what people think of my creations. I think the best thing about them is the fabric, which i get from the awesome (and very addictive) fabric rehab.

Welcome!
Welcome to my new site. I was blogging over at wordpress but decided a change was needed. I am still getting to know my way around but please keep visiting and commenting. I am determined to keep this up to date with all sorts of chatting about crafts, vintage fun, feminism and my daily antics!
I look forward to meeting you all.
